I’ve decided that I’m going to dedicate Fridays to at least one food post. This is not to limit any other food posts throughout the rest of the week but to keep part of my focus on food, since it’s a major part of my life. Today I’m going to post about San Marzano canned tomatoes. These are tomatoes from the San Marzano region in Italy and they are canned with basil so it gives it a really multidimensional and sweeter taste. We’ve been making our own marinara sauce for a while now, but we switched to this variety of canned tomato because, quite frankly, it tastes better! It’s also quicker and is less expensive. While it still takes liger than just popping open a jar of Ragu, the result is infinitely better! Only takes about an hour with sautéed onions and garlic and any other herbs or other veggies you’d like to add-cook them all down, salt and pepper, some smoked paprika, and BAM! Delicious marinara!
Tonight our daughter made dinner-the marinara using these delicious Dan Marzano tomatoes! Needless to say, not too many leftovers. 🙂
