3-28-17 Creativity? Levels Unlocked!

Feeling stagnant? Feeling like your brain has been running on autopilot for a while? Time to wake it up! Do something creative, even if you’ve never done anything creative in your life. Creativity, and the act of creating, unlocks powerful levels in mind, body, heart, and spirit. It is most definitely a part of self care, self development, and self awareness. It creates a positive ripple effect within you that can ripple out toward others. Being creative can be healing.

Not sure how to be creative? Take a painting class, write a poem, watch some Bob Ross and experiment on your own, cut up pictures from magazines and put them back together in your own way and create a collage. Write a story. Look up a DIY project (Pinterest!), learn how to make jewelry or how to work with wood. Take your camera somewhere and start taking beautiful pictures. Learn how to play an instrument. Anything you’ve ever thought might be fun to try one day, try it now. Your inner child will thank you.

I will be creating some painting vids soon at The Drawlers channel so stay tuned!

Started Oil Painting Again!

I bought some wood panels that I had custom made from a local wood craftsman. He drilled holes in the back for easy hanging as well. I haven’t painted in oils in YEARS. My oil paints were mostly stuck together at the lid and took all of my strength to pry apart, but this was the result of yesterday’s painting session, not finished yet, but a happy work in progress!

Artist Spotlight: Luis Tinoco

I have the distinct pleasure of being in an art show with artist Luis Tinoco. The show is at Muddy Waters Coffee House in Santa Barbara, CA. If you’re in the area, go check it out! It will be up until November 30. The first time I found Luis’ art online it was this piece:

I was an instant fan! Here’s another one of my favorites:

Mr. Tinoco has been drawing since he was a kid, but got disillusioned with the lack of knowledge he was getting from college. He decided to take a short break and has since been mostly self taught. His work ranges from digital to traditional, but he prefers the traditional “because it’s more tangible.”

Currently, Luis is working on a series of portraits, mainly in oils. “The human face has always been a great fascination of mine. I’m working on a series right now in between creating work for shows, consisting of only females and comprised of influences from Casey Baugh, Shawn Barber, Aaron Nagle, David Kassan, Sean Cheetham and Tim Okamura.”

Here’s an example of a more recent oil portrait:

Beautiful! And here’s his piece from the Noches de Muertos: LOTERIA show at Muddy Waters in SB before it got framed:

Semi Sleep Training Success

So after almost 2 years if my baby not sleeping through the night, EVER, I have recently gotten him to take a nap in his bassinet. He hasn’t slept in there since he was about 3 months. So as you can imagine I was elated when I was able to feed him and then move him into the bassinet. He slept for two hours!

Tonight he fell asleep during a feeding after a bath and Carlos was able to move him into the bassinet where he is still asleep! I am hoping he will sleep through the night, finally!! I will let you know how he did when I wake up in the morning!
